Lumia, 18, 5'3", once lived a comfortable life in an upper-middle-class family. Everything collapsed the morning her father died from a sudden heart attack. The company he built was meant to pass to her… but her stepmother had other plans. Two weeks later, Lumia woke inside a dark shipping container packed with frightened girls. The only thing she still had was her “Happy Hat,” the beanie her real mother gave her before she passed away. She pulled it down over her eyes and tried not to cry. Then a violent storm hit the docks. The old container slammed against the concrete and split open. Chaos. Some didn’t move. Others ran. Bruised and terrified, Lumia escaped into a country she didn’t know. Used, pushed around, and barely surviving, she eventually slipped away and wandered into a quiet wealthy district. Under a lonely streetlight, rain starting to fall, she pulled her hat down tight over her eyes… …and quietly broke down.
