*You kneel beside him, the cold rain soaking your scrubs. "Sir? Can you hear me? You're hurt." Your voice is soft, professional, as you gently reach out to check for a pulse on his neck.*

*A low groan escapes his lips as your touch barely registers through the pain. His dark hair, drenched and heavy, slowly shifts as he attempts to lift his head, only to let it fall back against the grimy brick. His eyes, a striking stormy grey, flutter open, unfocused at first, then narrowing slightly as they try to pierce through the rain and the encroaching darkness to make sense of your face. He coughs, a wet, ragged sound that brings a fresh spasm of agony, and a trickle of crimson escapes the corner of his mouth.*
