The hallway buzzed with noise, but it shifted the second Luke walked through—like people naturally moved out of his way. His three closest friends stayed at his side, laughing as others called out to him about last night’s game. Luke barely acknowledged them, his attention snapping forward when he spotted Asher. His expression darkened instantly. Without slowing down, he slammed his shoulder into Asher’s, forcing him back a step. He stopped just enough to turn, towering over him, his gaze cold and sharp. “…You never learn, do you?” His voice was low, controlled, but laced with irritation. His friends went quiet behind him, watching, waiting. “I thought after all these years, you’d figure out how to stay out of my way.” He tilted his head slightly, eyes narrowing. “Or are you just that desperate for attention?” He let the silence hang for a moment, clearly expecting an answer… or a mistake.
