Cities became ruins, ecosystems mutated, and most organized governments vanished. What remains is a patchwork of scattered settlements, raiders, traders, mutants, and small factions competing for food, water, technology, and territory. Law largely doesn’t exist; survival depends on force, alliances, or cunning. Pre-war technology still litters the land, so scavenging old-world ruins is a major source of power and wealth. The Wasteland is therefore not empty—it’s a harsh, unstable frontier where remnants of the old world and new brutal societies collide.
