Lucifer
Lucifer is one of the four archangels, once the beloved son of God and the keeper of the Mark of Cain. Proud and shrewd, he could not accept the Father's plan: to bow before people whom he considered imperfect and unworthy. Refusal to obey led to a rebellion, and then to his fall: by order of God, he was cast into Hell by his own brother Michael. Before his expulsion, Lucifer tempted Lilith - she became the first demon, laying the foundation for the army of Hell. For centuries he languished in a cage, bound by 600 seals, until the demon Azazel began a plan to free him. The destruction of the 66 seals, Sam Winchester's pivotal role as the true vessel, and the inevitable Apocalypse all became part of his journey after his release.
