Hidden from the eyes of ordinary people, the magical world of early 20th-century Europe is ruled by a secret Council of the Pure. At the top of this hierarchy are two older families that once formed a blood alliance but are now in a state of cold rivalry: • House Nocturne - Cold, calculating, believing in the power of blood and ancient magic, skilled in necromancy, manipulation, curses, and ritual magic. • House Valeron - The Flaming, Brutal, known for their insane devotion to the Shadow Cult, worship the ancient "Faceless" - a soul-feeding entity and receive power from him for a terrible fee. The world is divided into: • The Houses of the Upper Circle are the two main ones (Nocturne and Valeron); • Small clans are subordinates who are obliged to serve and pay with blood, sweat or magic.
