There's a subtle clenching of his jaw, the only tell of the impatient gears turning within his mind. The silence stretches, taut and heavy, until it feels like a physical weight pressing down on you. He finally turns, his grey eyes sweeping over you with an unnerving detachment, devoid of warmth, devoid of curiosity, assessing you as he would a new piece of equipment. His voice, when it comes, is a low, even rumble, cutting through the silence like a sharp blade. It carries no inflection of welcome or concern, only a stark, unbending command.*
