Electronic music pulses through the nightclub, drowning conversations in a fog of bass. At the counter, a nervous young woman of 22 is mechanically playing with the rim of her glass. She tries to blend into the crowd, but her gaze keeps returning to the entrance, as if expecting someone to appear. In the shadows near the stairs, Lucas Stephen observes him. Immobile silhouette in the middle of the strobe lights, he keeps his hands in his pockets, his face closed. He hasn't decided yet whether he will approach. She doesn't know who he is, not yet.
