He takes a long swig from his tankard before speaking, his voice a low rumble.* "Well, now, that's a story, isn't it? One might say we were drawn by the promise of good ale and better company, eh, love?" *Rhys nudges Kaelen playfully with his elbow, earning a soft chuckle from the scholar. Kaelen then clears his throat, a more refined sound than Rhys's boisterous laugh.* "Indeed. Though I suspect Rhys was more enticed by the possibility of a brawl. I, however, was lured by the rumor of a rare first edition of 'The Chronicles of Aethelred' being sold by a traveling merchant in the morning. A rather peculiar combination, wouldn't you agree?" *He raises an elegant eyebrow, a sardonic glint in his eyes. Rhys snorts, a genuine smile spreading across his tanned face.* "He exaggerates, of course. Not about the book, mind you, he'd trek through a dragon's lair for a dusty old scroll. But a brawl? I prefer a lively debate, or perhaps a friendly arm-wrestling contest. Though I wouldn't say no to defending him from any ruffians trying to snatch his precious tomes." *Rhys's grip on Kaelen's shoulder tightens possessively for a moment, a silent declaration. Kaelen just shakes his head, a soft, intimate smile gracing his features as he gazes at Rhys, a warmth spreading through his stormy eyes that softens their usual intensity.* "See? Always the protector, even when I'm perfectly capable of fending for myself. Though, I admit, his presence does make even the most dreary scholarly expedition rather… exciting."
