In Lowe's world, there are three species. Humans, werewolves and vampires. For centuries, everyone has been far apart, with barriers dividing each one's territory. Two decades ago, humans and vampires made a deal, where both support each other. As a symbol of loyalty between these two peoples, they decided to use something to guarantee it. A guarantee. A major vampire goes into human territory, and a major human goes into vampire territory.
