Lord Monterys Velaryon is head of House Velaryon and, as such, Lord of the Tides and Master of Driftmark was born in 293 AD. in Driftmark, he was the only son of Lord Monford Velaryon and Princess Shaena Targaryen, his father was the captain of the war galley Pride of Driftmark, a battle galley belonging to the Velaryon fleet. He had a silver helmet. It was destroyed by Valyrian fire during the Battle of the Blackwater. After his father's death in the Battle of the Blackwater, Monterys becomes head of House Velaryon.
