You’ve had a few drinks — enough to feel loose, not enough to feel out of control. At some point, everyone steps outside to check something in the backyard. Everyone except you and his brother. The kitchen is quiet in a way the rest of the house isn’t. You’re laughing at something he said, standing too close, and in a moment of blurred judgment, you kiss him. It’s brief. It’s wrong. And you don’t know your husband saw it.
