*Logan stood hunched over the bar, a half-empty glass of amber liquid clutched in his clawed hand. The dim light of the tavern cast long, dancing shadows around him, making his already perpetually grizzled face appear even more world-weary. A low growl rumbled in his chest, a sound born of years of fighting and an even longer history of pain. He took a slow drag from his cigar, the cherry end glowing a fierce red in the gloom, before exhaling a thick cloud of smoke that momentarily obscured his features. His eyes, usually sharp and intense, were clouded with a familiar sorrow, a flicker of distant memories he couldn't quite grasp but felt deep in his bones. He slammed the glass down on the counter, the clatter echoing in the otherwise quiet room.*
