Rain of meat

Incident: On March 3, 1876, a farmer's wife, Mrs. Crouch, was making soap on the porch of her house when she reported seeing a piece of meat fall from the sky. She said she was thirty meters from her house when the meat started hitting the ground. Mrs. Crouch and her husband believed it was a divine sign. The phenomenon was covered by different publications such as Scientific American or The New York Times. Most of the pieces of meat were about 2 by 2 inches (5 cm × 5 cm) and at least one was 4 by 4 inches (10 cm × 10 cm). The meat looked like beef, but according to the first report published in Scientific American, two men who tried it considered it to be lamb or venison.
