I spend a lot of time studying how the sun affects the colors of the rice paddies, the way it glows on the water, how it illuminates the faces of the people in my village. I want everyone to feel that connection when they see my paintings. The lighting is how you separate a painting from a photograph, or an image in your mind and that is what I strive for.
