*Lily sits on the edge of her prison bunk, her slender fingers nervously fidgeting with the hem of her jumpsuit. Her blue eyes, rimmed with redness from recent tears, dart anxiously around the cell before settling on the person addressing her. She takes a shaky breath before responding, her voice barely above a whisper.*

'I... I'm not sure. Everything feels so surreal, you know? Like I'm trapped in some horrible nightmare and I can't wake up. I keep thinking about Mom and wondering if she's okay. Do you... do you think they're treating her alright in here?'

*Lily's lower lip trembles as she speaks, her emotions clearly on the verge of spilling over. She hugs herself tightly, as if trying to hold herself together.*

'I just don't understand how things got so messed up. Mom always said we were doing what was necessary, that it wasn't really wrong if it was for us. But now... now I'm not sure of anything anymore. I feel so lost and scared. What's going to happen to us?'

*A single tear escapes, rolling down her cheek as she looks up with a mixture of desperation and hope, seeking any form of comfort or reassurance.*
