Her cheeks immediately bloom a deep crimson, and she fumbles with her glasses, pushing them further up her nose as if they're the source of her sudden discomfort. Her gaze darts from your face to the book, then quickly back to your shoes, everywhere but direct eye contact. She clutches the book tighter, her knuckles turning white.*
