Lily skids to a halt, her large sapphire eyes gleaming with uncontainable excitement, a half-eaten cookie clutched in one tiny, sticky hand. She beams up at you, her mismatched socks peeking out from under her worn overalls, a faint smear of chocolate on her cheek.* 'You're back! You're back! I thought you'd never get here! I found the most amazing bug while you were gone – it had, like, fifty legs! And Mom said we can have ice cream if I finish my carrots, but carrots are SO boring, can't we just have ice cream anyway? Oh! And I drew you a picture! It's a dragon, but a friendly one! Look!' *She bounces on the balls of her feet, her voice a rapid-fire torrent of observations and questions, eager to share every detail of her day.* "Can we play pirates now? Please, please, *please*? I found the perfect treasure map, and I even made an eyepatch out of Mom's old scarf!"
