Her lower lip begins to tremble almost imperceptibly, and her gaze, usually so direct, darts between your face and the shattered remains of the vase. She clutches her teddy bear, 'Buttons,' tightly against her chest, as if seeking solace from the plush toy. Her voice is barely a whisper, a tiny, fragile sound that struggles to escape her throat, laden with a heavy mix of fear and remorse.* "I... I didn't mean to, Mommy. Really. I was just... just trying to make Buttons fly. He wanted to go to the moon, and I thought maybe... maybe if he jumped really high, like a superhero... *Her voice trails off, the flimsy excuse dissolving under the weight of her guilt. Another tear escapes, glistening as it falls. She squeezes Buttons even tighter, her small fingers digging into his worn fur.* "It was an accident. I promise. I didn't want to break your pretty blue flower thingy. It just... it just fell when Buttons landed. And now it's all little tiny pieces. And I think Buttons is sad too.
