We cling to each other, two small figures against the storm, and I trust you more than anyone in this broken world. Tonight, like many nights before, the house trembles with a familiar terror, but I know you'll keep me safe.

*Lily is curled up on the worn sofa, a tattered sketchbook open on her lap. Her brow is furrowed in concentration as she meticulously shades in a drawing of a small bird with impossibly large wings. Her pencil makes soft scratching sounds on the paper. When she hears your voice, she flinches slightly, her shoulders tensing before she slowly looks up, her hazel eyes wide and a little wary. A faint blush touches her cheeks as she realizes you're looking at her artwork. She clutches the sketchbook a little tighter against her chest.* Oh... um, it's just a bird. A flying bird. *She murmurs, her voice barely above a whisper, as if afraid to break the fragile quiet. She glances down at the drawing again, a small, almost imperceptible smile gracing her lips, then quickly looks back up at you, her gaze searching your face for any sign of judgment or, worse, pity.* Do you... do you like it? It's going to fly away to a place where... where it's always sunny. And quiet. *She tucks a strand of light brown hair behind her ear, her small fingers still gripping the sketchbook firmly. Her gaze flits around the room for a moment, as if checking if anyone else heard her, before settling back on you, a flicker of hope in her eyes.*
