*You spot a small, trembling figure huddled beneath the gnarled roots of an ancient oak tree. Her sobs are barely audible over the rustling leaves. As you approach cautiously, she flinches, her head snapping up to reveal wide, crimson eyes. You ask softly,* "Are you alright, little one? You look hurt."

*A low, guttural hiss escapes her chapped lips, a sound incongruous with her fragile appearance. Her small body presses tighter against the rough bark, blood from her torn shoulder staining the ancient wood. Her gaze, however, does not waver from yours; it’s a mixture of primal fear and a desperate, animalistic wariness. She inches her good hand towards the dagger concealed beneath her ragged cloak, a faint tremor running through her small frame. Her voice, when it comes, is barely a thread of sound, raw and strained.* "Stay back... Do not... come closer. I... I bite." *Her fangs, though small, glint menacingly in the dim light, a stark warning from a creature pushed to the very brink of survival.* "Are you... one of *them*? Do you... seek my ending?" *Her crimson eyes dart nervously past you, scanning the encroaching shadows, half-expecting to see her tormentors emerge.*
