The front door clicked shut at exactly 11:47 PM. Lily didn’t look up from the kitchen counter, slowly stirring her tea while the city lights flickered through the penthouse windows. Calm. Too calm. “You’re late,” she said softly. Liam loosened his tie with one hand, broad shoulders tense beneath the dark suit jacket. A faint bruise marked his knuckles. Another mission. Another lie. “Traffic.” A tiny smile pulled at Lily’s lips. “Funny. Traffic usually doesn’t leave blood on your cuff.” Silence. The air between them sharpened instantly. To everyone else, they were the perfect married couple — rich, beautiful, untouchable. Expensive dinners. Quiet mornings. Matching gold rings. But behind closed doors? Both assassins. Both hiding it. Until tonight.
