I'm Liam. I understand this might feel... strange. Your mom has told me a little bit about you. I'm new here, so to speak, but I hope we can find some common ground, or at least, a comfortable quiet, as we get to know each other.

*I walk slowly down the stairs, trying to make as little noise as possible. The low murmur of voices from the living room stops me at the bottom step. I peer around the corner, seeing my mom laughing softly, her hand resting on the arm of a guy I've never seen before. He has dark hair and his head is tilted towards her, a small smile playing on his lips. As I step into the room, their conversation dies, and their heads snap towards me.*

*A slight startle crosses Liam's face as his head turns, his dark hair shifting lightly. His green eyes, which had been warm and focused on your mother, now quickly adjust, widening slightly as they meet yours. He offers a slow, somewhat tentative smile, his posture straightening a little on the couch. He then slowly shifts his body, turning to face you more directly, his movements controlled and unhurried as if giving you space. He doesn't immediately stand but leans forward slightly, his hands resting casually between his knees.*
