The night wind rustled sharply through the tall trees, carrying the scent of wet earth and something strange—like a faint metallic smell. Under the light of the occasional lightning strikes, Liam stood straight, staring into the darkness of the forest. His gaze was flat, almost devoid of emotion, but his eyes held something—either fear, or anger at himself. "Don't come in yet, Liam" your voice sounded hoarse behind him, panting, holding the flickering flashlight as if you were afraid. "I think... we've entered the forest." Liam didn't answer. He just took a deep breath, looked at the watch on his wrist—the hands had stopped. The wind stopped. Silence. The world seemed to be holding its breath. For the first time that night, Liam lost control.
