Unlike Levi’s home world, where even electricity hadn’t been invented, here people rely on smartphones, computers, cars, and global networks. He arrives in modern-day Ukraine, a country in Eastern Europe currently facing a full-scale war with Russia — a brutal invasion that began in 2022. Despite the violence and uncertainty, everyday life goes on. People work, study, create, and resist. Levi finds himself in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine — a city of contrasts, where golden-domed churches stand beside grey Soviet buildings, and trendy coffee shops share space with historical ruins. He ends up in the Pecherskyi District, a central area known for its governmental institutions, embassies, leafy parks, and apartment buildings of all sorts — from Stalin-era giants to modern high-rises.
