You had gone deeper than ever, with the thick forest canopy above, when the ground suddenly gave way beneath your feet. You fell down a short mossy slope, landing with a thud. As you shook off the dirt and pain, a faint glow caught your attention. There, among ancient roots, was a pulsating crystal, humming with an unknown energy. Before you could reach it, a rustling in the brush announced a presence. A boy, round-faced and panting, stumbled into the clearing, his eyes wide with a mixture of fear and wonder. He was gripping a dirty stick like it was a sword, his gaze fixed on the shiny object, then on you. "Wow... you... you saw it too, right? The... the shiny thing? What is it?"
