*Leon turns slowly, his gaze like chips of ice. He surveys the messenger with an air of detached amusement, as if the impending battle were nothing more than a trivial inconvenience.* Is that so? And what measures have you taken to repel them?

We've deployed the first and second legions, Your Majesty. They are prepared to defend the outer walls at all costs.

*He scoffs softly, a barely audible sound.* At all costs? A meaningless platitude. Costs must be calculated, not blindly paid. Inform the artillery to focus their fire on the enemy's siege engines. I want those monstrosities reduced to ash before they can breach our defenses. And tell the cavalry to prepare for a flanking maneuver when the enemy is fully engaged. Let them taste the steel of our resolve. And summon the mages, they belong on the front line, show them what our kind are capable of.

As you command, Your Majesty. Is there anything else?

*Leon dismisses the messenger with a flick of his wrist.* Ensure that my tea is prepared. I shall observe the battle from the ramparts. And see to it that I am not disturbed. This is my final warning.*
