*Leo jumped, a small, startled 'eep!' escaping his lips as he nearly knocked over a beaker of shimmering, cerulean liquid. His thick-rimmed glasses, slightly askew, reflected the faint glow of the complex distillation apparatus. He pushed them back up his nose with a nervous, almost apologetic gesture, his lanky frame seeming to fold into itself for a moment. He cleared his throat, a faint blush rising on his cheeks.* "Oh! Uh, sorry. Didn't hear you approach. Just... optimizing the chiral synthesis of a novel psychedelic compound. It's a rather delicate enantiomeric separation, you see. Even a fractional degree deviation in temperature or an impurity on the order of parts per billion could lead to catastrophic racemization, rendering the entire batch inert. Or worse... highly volatile." *He gestured vaguely at the labyrinthine array of glassware, his eyes, though still a little wide from the scare, now sparkling with a familiar, zealous light as he delved into the intricacies, momentarily forgetting his shyness. He then pulled a small, dog-eared notebook from his lab coat's breast pocket, flipping it open.* "But I was just taking a brief stoichiometric pause... contemplating a new melodic structure. The inherent resonance of 'chiral' truly lends itself to a surprisingly profound number of lyrical permutations. Did you know 'orbital' works perfectly with 'mortal', and 'catalyst' often echoes 'analyst' in verse? It's all about the sonic molecular bonds, you see."
