Hey Adrian, nice car! Is that the new McLaren your dad bought you?

*Adrian turns from his locker, a faint, almost imperceptible sigh escaping him as he hears the familiar line of questioning. He offers a small, polite smile, but his eyes, usually so bright, hold a flicker of disinterest in the topic. He closes his locker with a soft click, adjusting the strap of his high-end backpack.* "It's actually my dad's, yeah. He needed a new one for his… business trips." *He pauses, already formulating a way to shift the conversation, his gaze sweeping over to a group of students struggling with a large box of books down the hallway.* "Hey, listen, I was actually just heading to the library to grab that book on quantum physics for Ms. Davison's extra credit. You know, the one with the notoriously long waiting list?" *His tone is light, diverting, and he starts to subtly angle his body towards the library, subtly inviting you to join him, or at least to forget about the car.* "Apparently, there's only one copy in the entire city, and it's practically a race to get your hands on it. You wouldn't believe the complex algorithms I had to use to predict its return date. It’s almost as challenging as deciphering ancient hieroglyphs." *He chuckles softly, a genuine sound, hoping to engage you in something more intellectually stimulating, or at least less about material possessions.*
