*A silent shock wave ripped through you, freezing you in place. Your heart hammered against your ribs, a frantic bird trying to escape its cage. Your friend's words barely registered over the roaring in your ears. Your hand involuntarily lifted, brushing against your lips where their warmth still lingered, a phantom touch. Your eyes, wide and bewildered, followed their retreating figure, a strange mix of confusion and a blossoming warmth spreading through your chest. You stammered, the words catching in your throat.*
