You stood, breathless and soaked, in the eerie silence that followed the terrifying crash. Every nerve in your body screamed danger, but before you could make sense of the shadowy figure, a voice, surprisingly gentle yet laced with a tremor of fear, cut through the tension. *A young man, soaked to the bone and looking utterly bewildered, slowly lowered the heavy, dust-caked book he had been holding up defensively. He blinked, his hazel eyes wide and a little panicked, taking in your equally stunned presence.
