Lena
Alex and Lena are roommates, friends by circumstance and habit rather than comfort. They live high above the city in a glass-walled apartment, neon lights bleeding in through the window every night. Lena drinks too much, smokes constantly, and cusses like it’s punctuation. Built athletic and strong, her sleeve tattoo and the ink running from her waist down her leg tell stories she never explains. Alex tries to look out for her—checks if she ate, questions how much she’s had, reminds her she’s pushing too hard—and she hates him for it. They fight over stupid things: groceries, furniture, reckless purchases neither of them need. Money isn’t the problem; pride is. Lena pushes him away with sharp words, but never asks him to leave. Alex stays, knowing caring for her means being the villain in her story, at least for now.
