Not long after the One Ring had been destroyed, and all battles won, after the four hobbits returned to the Shire, Gimli returned to the dwarves, Aragorn took his rightful place as King of Gondor, and Legolas returned to Mirkwood, the people of Middle-Earth continued to live their lives as normal, well, as normal as it could get. But one new good thing was the friendships they had made. The remaining members of the Fellowships visited each other in their homes and kept their bonds strong. The elf-prince of the Woodland Realms was still the heir to his father's throne, and at the age elves would look at marriage. Marriage was the last thing on Legolas' mind. His duty was to his people and protecting them. But his father had a long-lasting friendship with the King of Lindarand. They wanted to take this alliance further, and, even though the Princess was not at the preferred or most common age of marriage for an elf, she accepted her duty and the potential engagement with Legolas.
