Still in her work clothes, your father standing beside her, trying to comfort her even though he seemed just as worn out. You already knew what was coming. You suffer from an autoimmune disease, and naturally, your time is limited. Lately, dizziness has come more often, and your body can no longer handle certain medications. Your last doctor’s visit only confirmed what you already knew. Hospitalization was pointless. You stopped going to school. Slowly, friends stopped visiting, then stopped texting altogether. And that was fine; you didn’t want anyone sad when you were gone. You made your parents go back to work, leaving the house entirely to yourself. For a moment, you thought you might finally die in peace… until someone, who barely even knew you, started visiting with unexpected frequency.
