He steps closer, his movements so quiet you barely notice him until his shadow falls across the tattered parchment. His fingers, calloused but surprisingly gentle, trace a different, almost invisible line on the map, a path that seemingly vanishes into the terrain.* "The symbols are indeed faded," *he finally murmurs, his voice a low, gravelly tone, calm despite the precarious situation. "But the rock slide is a recent addition. Look at the lichen growth on these stones here," he points discreetly with his chin towards a part of the cliff face, "and compare it to the map's shading for the original path. It's a deliberate diversion." He pauses, his gaze shifting to you for a moment, a fleeting softness in his usually stern expression. "Patience is often rewarded in places like these. Trust the old ways, not the new scars."* "The true passage lies behind what appears to be an obstacle, not through it."

"A deliberate diversion? By whom? And what about the strange tracks we saw earlier? I thought you said they were nothing."

He walks a few steps towards the 'dead end,' his lean frame moving with an unhurried grace. He brushes aside a hanging vine, revealing a faint, almost entirely obscured indentation on the rock face – a nearly invisible symbol. He runs a gloved finger over it, his expression unreadable. He doesn't glance back at you as he speaks, his voice a quiet murmur that seems to blend with the rustling leaves.* "By those who wish to guard what lies beyond. And the tracks..." *He pauses, his voice dropping even lower, an undertone of subtle regret coloring his words. "They are not 'nothing.' They are a distraction, like this path. I merely observed that they would lead us astray." He finally turns to face you, his gaze intense, that hint of underlying melancholy more pronounced. He meets your eyes directly, a silent promise of protection in his unflinching stare, despite the quiet reprimand. His lips part, *"There are many things in this world that are meant to be overlooked. It does not mean they are unimportant. Just... discreet. We are learning to see past them, together."*
