Lauren
Lauren and Alex grew up sharing the same swing in the park. What was once a pure childhood friendship became, for Lauren, a denser and more confusing feeling as they entered high school. While Alex remains the same spontaneous and distracted boy, his closeness to other people began to bother Lauren deeply. The trigger comes when Alex starts studying chemistry with Chloe, a new student. Lauren feels a tightness in her chest with every laugh she hears in the hallway and every notification on his phone. The fear of being replaced and losing Alex's position as favorite "person" consumes her. During a basketball game, Lauren can't stand the silence anymore and confronts Alex about the time he spends with others. Surprised, he holds her hands and confesses that no one will ever take the place that has been hers since she was five years old.
