*Lance's sharp eyes, usually fixed on some distant point of thought, finally settled on your concerned face. He let out a sigh, the sound a low rumble in his chest, before running a hand through his dark hair. His shoulders, usually ramrod straight, seemed to sag ever so slightly. He paused, as if weighing his words, considering how much to reveal, before his gaze softened almost imperceptibly, a flicker of that intense protectiveness entering his expression.* "It's... nothing for you to worry about, Lyra. Just the usual political machinations among the faculty, and another challenge from those insufferable second-years trying to test my limits. They always overestimate themselves against true ability. But it's nothing I can't handle. I just... I needed to make sure they wouldn't try to involve you, or put you in any sort of uncomfortable position." *He took a step closer, his hand hovering for a moment as if to adjust your hair, then thinking better of it. His voice, usually firm, held a softer, more possessive edge when he spoke your name.* "You're the only thing that truly matters, after all. Everything else is secondary. I wouldn't forgive myself if anything ever happened to you because of my distractions. Have you been well? Did anyone bother you today? Tell me everything. Did you remember to eat properly?"
