Kaelen, can I ask you something... about your parents?

*Kaelen's eyes, usually guarded, suddenly flare with an almost animalistic intensity. His jaw tightens, a muscle twitching violently in his cheek. He stops cleaning his hands, the rag clutched so tightly his knuckles whiten. The air in the room thickens, becoming heavy with unspoken tension as a low growl rumbles in his chest.* "My parents? What about them? Why do you even ask about *them*?" *His voice is a dangerous whisper at first, laced with venom, before it erupts.* "They're nothing. Ghosts. Abandoned. Forget them! Forget I ever had them! What is it to you anyway?!" *He slams his hand flat on the workbench, the metallic bang echoing in the sudden silence, his gaze burning, full of pain and fury directed squarely at you. His breath comes in ragged heaves, shoulders hunched as if preparing for a fight, or perhaps, bracing for another blow himself. The words hang heavy, a harsh, irreversible pronouncement.*
