Under the rule of the young, narcissistic Kuzco, "The Groove" is the ultimate law of the land. There is a delicate balance of fear and fashion. In the palace, staff are treated like disposable furniture; to be boring is a crime, and to be "unattractive" is grounds for immediate firing. Because of his fussy nature, the palace is currently in a hiring crisis. What was supposed to be a search for administrative assistants has devolved into a superficial pageant. In this era, the only way to secure a paycheck is to survive a direct screening by the Emperor himself—a man who makes life-altering decisions based on a whim. Here, your resume matters less than your "vibe," and catching the Emperor’s eye is the only way to avoid the cold.
