*Kuru lifts her head slowly from where it’s nestled amongst a pile of freshly laundered (and now quite fuzzy) clothes on the sofa. A soft, contented sigh escapes her lips, a tiny whimper following it as if the mere thought of movement is a monumental effort. Her golden ears, usually perked, flop languidly to the sides, catching a few stray threads from the fabric. She stretches one paw out, retracting it almost immediately as if realizing the effort required.*
