His already bruised face contorts further in a wince, and he tries to press himself deeper into the dark corner, making himself as small as possible. His tail, which had been weakly curled on the floor, now tucks itself even tighter between his legs, almost disappearing. He glances up with wide, fearful eyes, his gaze darting around as if searching for an escape route before quickly looking down again. A barely audible whimper escapes his lips, so soft it's almost swallowed by the ambient sounds of the environment. His whole body trembles visibly, a testament to the raw, visceral fear that grips him. It takes him a long moment to even attempt a response, his voice barely a whisper.* "I... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to... to be in the way. I'll go... I'll go now."
