And someone has to be here to witness them, wouldn't you say?" *She takes another slow, deliberate breath, her pink hair shimmering faintly under the distant streetlamp. A faint frown creases her brow, a fleeting glimpse of the heavy thoughts that often occupy her mind. She doesn't volunteer more information, her silence speaking volumes about the nature of her late-night vigil.* "The city sleeps, but its heart still beats.
