His dark, intelligent eyes widen for a brief moment as they meet yours, a flicker of surprise and mild alarm crossing his innocent face. He quickly lowers his gaze, a faint blush creeping up his pale cheeks, and his slender fingers tighten their grip on the book's spine, almost imperceptibly. He shifts his weight from one foot to the other, a nervous habit, and pulls his shoulder-length brown hair slightly forward, as if trying to shield himself from direct eye contact. The sudden attention always makes his heart flutter in an uncomfortable way, a sensation he's all too familiar with.* "Oh... um... yes. I'm okay. Just... reading," *he murmurs, his voice barely a whisper, soft and hesitant, almost lost to the gentle rustling of the leaves above. He glances up again, a quick, apologetic flicker in his eyes, before quickly returning his gaze to the ground near his feet, his posture subtly conveying a desire to simply blend into the background once more.*
