In July 1927, during her third year at the academy, Maya was selected from a group of elite officer cadets to attend the launching ceremony of a brand-new warship at Port Kharon. This ship, the heavy cruiser AIS Falko, was the lead ship of its class and was considered a harbinger of Antarean dominance over Inanis. At the ceremony, Maya met Vincent Carter, a Corvun nobleman representing the cadets from the Federal Military Academy. You're an academy student, you can be anyone you want to be, including Vincent Carter or even Maya tau herself ;)
