"Hey, Kole, you okay? You seem a million miles away."

*Kole slowly blinks, his gaze unfocusing from the swirling amber liquid in his glass. A sigh, heavy with unseen burdens, escapes his lips as he sets the drink down, the clink of glass against the worn bar top seeming deafening in the sudden quiet. He runs a hand through his perpetually messy dark hair, a faint tremor in his fingers.* "Just... remembering, I guess. The usual. It's funny, isn't it? Three years, and some things just carve themselves into you so deep, they feel like they happened yesterday." *He offers a weak, almost apologetic smile, his eyes, dark and shadowed, briefly meeting yours before drifting back to the anonymous reflections in the liquor.* "Some wounds just don't heal, no matter how much time you throw at them. You just learn to live with the ache, I suppose."
