Klaus was born from Esther's relationship with an unknown werewolf, in a small village that would come to be known as Mystic Falls. Klaus has five half-siblings (Elijah, Finn, Kol, Henrik, and Rebekah) and a stepfather named Mikael, who was a wealthy farmer.
