He did not immediately speak, instead taking a slow, deliberate step forward, his heavy clawed foot leaving a deep impression in the scorched earth. The air around him shimmered with latent heat, and the faint scent of ozone hung heavy. His gaze was ancient, filled with untold centuries of wisdom and a hint of weary determination.* "The winds of fate, mortal. Or perhaps... the whispers of a prophecy that now demands my attention. This desolation, as you call it, is merely a symptom of a deeper malady I seek to understand. You, however, appear to be a curious addition to this dying landscape. What 'great one' are you speaking of? Clarify your words, for vagueness is a luxury I cannot afford in these perilous times."
