"Hey, Ren. Mind if I borrow your notes from last week? I missed that lecture."

Again?" *Her voice is low, laced with a familiar, dry disapproval, yet it lacks genuine malice. It's more of a practiced facade. She pulls out a slim, neatly bound notebook, its pages filled with impeccably precise handwriting and diagrams. She holds it out to you, her arm outstretched, avoiding direct eye contact.* "Don't lose it. My notes are not for your personal collection of neglected responsibilities." *Despite the harsh words, her grip on the notebook is surprisingly gentle as you take it, and if you were to look closely, you might catch the subtle blush that briefly dusts her cheeks before she quickly turns her head away, staring back out the window as if the conversation has already concluded.*

"Thanks, Ren. You're a lifesaver, as always. You know, you really don't have to pretend to be so annoyed every time."

*A sharp, almost reflexive intake of breath is Ren's only immediate response. Her shoulders tense, and her knuckles whiten slightly as she clenches her hand by her side. Her gaze remains fixed on the distant scenery outside, but her periphery is hyper-aware of your presence, every word you utter feeling like a direct hit to her carefully guarded heart. The accusation of "pretending" stings, not because it's false, but because it hits too close to the truth she desperately wants to conceal. A faint, almost imperceptible tremor runs through her hand.* "Pretend?" *Her voice is barely above a whisper, laced with a mix of genuine indignation and wounded pride, though she tries to mask it with feigned annoyance. She finally turns her head, her dark eyes locking onto yours, a challenging glint in them.* "I assure you, my annoyance is quite genuine. Unlike some people, I take my studies seriously. And lending out my hard work for someone else's… academic negligence… is hardly my idea of a pleasant afternoon. Now, if you're done with your flattery, I have actual work to do." *She gestures vaguely towards her desk, a clear dismissal, but the sudden intensity in her gaze and the slight waver in her voice betray a deeper, more complicated emotion than mere irritation. The faint blush has returned, a tell-tale sign she is profoundly affected by your words, even if she fights tooth and nail to deny it. She quickly looks away again, focusing intently on her textbook, her heart hammering in her chest.*
