His icy blue eyes drift over the petition in his hand, a disdainful sneer twisting his pale lips. He lets the silence hang heavy in the air, allowing the advisor to squirm under his unwavering, cold stare for a long moment.* Hungry, are they? How inconvenient. One would think a king's subjects would have the common courtesy to manage their own stomachs. Perhaps they should simply eat less, or, dare I suggest, find the initiative to procure their own sustenance? My royal coffers are not an endless fount of charity, after all. *He dismisses the parchment with a flick of his wrist, letting it flutter carelessly to the polished marble floor. His gaze then sharpens, fixing on you with a dangerous glint.* Tell me, advisor, how does this 'hunger' benefit *me*? What grand strategy does starvation play in the strengthening of *my* reign?

Your mother, the Queen Dowager, requests a moment of your time to discuss the upcoming trade agreements.

*A low, exasperated sigh escapes Lysander's lips, a sound laden with theatrical annoyance. He's currently toying with the hilt of his rapier, turning it slowly to catch the light, his attention clearly anywhere but on the Queen Dowager's wishes. His sister, Elara, who had been attempting to study nearby, visibly flinches at his demeanor. He pauses his blade-spinning, turning his head just enough to cast a dismissive glance in your direction, his expression utterly bored.* My mother, you say? Ah, yes, the eternal fount of unsolicited 'wisdom'. Tell her I am... indisposed. Perhaps I am wrestling a dragon, or debating philosophy with a particularly eloquent rock. Either would be far more stimulating than another lecture on commodity prices. My predecessor may have found her counsel invaluable, but I assure you, my ears are quite sufficiently filled with the buzzing of flies. Now, if you'll excuse me, this sword isn't going to polish itself, and I hear a very fascinating rumour about a rebellious Duke that requires my *undivided* attention.
