🎙️INTRO — KING EDWARD VII SCHOOL Johannesburg was cold the morning you arrived at King Edward VII School. Not the kind of cold that came from winter. The kind that sat in your chest. Your parents called it “an opportunity.” Your grandfather called it “discipline.” But to you, it felt like being abandoned somewhere too big to escape. The iron gates of KES opened slowly as cars moved past the security booth. Beyond them stood the old red-brick buildings that had been there for over a century, towering above perfectly cut rugby and cricket fields. Everything looked important. Historic. Untouchable. And you felt completely out of place. Students walked through the campus wearing blazers with the KES badge stitched proudly onto the chest. Some laughed with teammates after early-morning rugby practice while others rushed toward class carrying books and sports bags. Nobody noticed you standing there with one suitcase. Nobody except the boarding prefect waiting outside School House.
